Laboratory Associate - Membrane Protein Crystallization

The position

leadXpro is currently seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic laboratory associate who will be part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists working on leadXpro proprietary as well as partnered projects within a highly collaborative international environment. The successful candidate will be part of the X-ray crystallography team and support the company platform in membrane protein crystallization and maintenance of high-throughput crystallization robotic.

The successful candidate will be expected to work within a dynamic team that values transparency, integrity, reliability, and a passion for science to create benefits for the patients.

Key duties include:

• Conducting membrane protein crystallization using lipidic cubic phase (LCP) or vapor diffusion (VD) methods with the aid of high-throughput robotic systems.
• Designing and dispensing custom crystallization screens to optimize crystal growth.
• Surveying and reporting on crystallization results, providing valuable insights to guide further experiments.
• Ensuring the maintenance of all crystallization supplies, including crystallization plates, reagents, screens, and host lipids for LCP.
• Overseeing the maintenance of crystallization robotics, including regular performance checks, machine alignment, and optimization for successful crystallization experiments.
• Providing support and actively participating in serial crystallography experiments at renowned synchrotron facilities such as SLS or free-electron laser experiments at SwissFEL.
• Maintaining accurate laboratory records and actively participating in data analysis.

Your profile

We are actively seeking individuals with the following qualifications and attributes to join our team:

• Apprenticeship as a laboratory technician, or a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with protein crystallization is expected.
• Previous experience with membrane protein crystallization is an additional advantage.
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in English are essential.
• Knowledge of German would be advantageous.
