We have an integrated platform for membrane protein biochemistry, biophysics and structural biology, including X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM. Our team combines specialized knowledge in protein science, pioneering technologies in structural biology and expertise in ligand design and characterization.


    The Position

    You will perform membrane protein biochemistry on ion channels, transporters and GPCRs to provide high quality samples for structural and biophysical studies. The key duties include:


    • Purification of membrane proteins using a variety of chromatographic methods including affinity, ion exchange and size exclusion chromatography.
    • Monitoring of protein quality using analytical methods including fluorescence-size exclusion chromatography, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, and in-gel fluorescence.
    • Documentation of laboratory work and participation in data analysis.
    • Recording scientific data in our database.  
    • Organisational tasks to manage laboratory e.g. managin supply of consumables and maintenance of equipment.
    • Contribution to scientific research on membrane proteins for drug discovery within an experienced team.

    Your profile

    You are a highly motivated Laboratory Technician with an open and positive mindset. You share our passion for science and you identify with our values transparancy, integrity and reliability. This position requires the following qualifications and experience:

    • Apprenticeship as laboratory technician with >10 years experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical environment
    • Expertise in protein purification and standard protein analytical techniques
      Profound experience with HPLC and Äkta instrument handling
    • Experience in membrane protein biochemistry
    • Excellent team player with high work ethics
    • Fluency in English is essential (C1+), German is a plus
